Who is a disciple? — A follower of Jesus Christ who grows, shares, and serves in faith. 

At Sandy Springs UMC, we want to help you determine where you are on your discipleship journey and engage in ministries together that help you grow. The following Faith Flow helps you identify where you are on your faith journey and offers possibilities for growth and connection. Look for specific ministries in each area and reach out with questions and for conversation at main@ssumc.org.

WORSHIP

  • SEEKING FAITH — I have listened to a sermon, watched an online service, or attended once.

  • BEGINNING IN FAITH — I worship sometimes. I have been baptized.

  • GROWING IN CHRIST — I worship regularly, ask questions, and attend special worship services.

  • MATURING IN CHRIST — I serve in worship, watch online if unable to attend, and engage in worship practices at home.

CONNECT

  • SEEKING FAITH — I attended a church social event.

  • BEGINNING IN FAITH — I attended a "Get to know SSUMC" session or short-term small group.

  • GROWING IN CHRIST — I connect newcomers to ministries and my groups.

  • MATURING IN CHRIST — I tangibly care for others in the church and connect others to ministries that fit their interests.

GROW

  • SEEKING FAITH — I have questions about spirituality and God.

  • BEGINNING IN FAITH — I attend a short-term small group or study and learn about spiritual disciplines like prayer and reading scripture.

  • GROWING IN CHRIST — I regularly attend a small group or study. I pray and have regular devotional practices. I encourage others’ growth in faith.

  • MATURING IN CHRIST — I lead a faith formation group, pray, and read scripture daily.

SERVE

  • SEEKING FAITH — I'm seeking opportunities to serve and make an impact.

  • BEGINNING IN FAITH — I have participated in a service project. I pray about how to serve.

  • GROWING IN CHRIST — I serve the church and community monthly.

  • MATURING IN CHRIST — I serve the church and community regularly and take a leadership role.

GIVE

  • SEEKING FAITH — I give when I'm in worship at SSUMC.

  • BEGINNING IN FAITH — I make regular contributions to SSUMC.

  • GROWING IN CHRIST — I completed a pledge card and I am moving towards a 10 percent tithe. I'm exploring other giving opportunities and legacy giving.

  • MATURING IN CHRIST — I give 10 percent or more of my income to SSUMC and I respond with generosity to other mission and ministry needs.

SHARE

  • SEEKING FAITH — I share church social media posts, and may invite friends to church events.

  • BEGINNING IN FAITH — I share with close friends and family how my faith is growing and what church means to me. I occasionally invite others.

  • GROWING IN CHRIST — I share with others what I love about my church and how I grow in my faith. I frequently invite others and volunteer at church events that connect with our community.

  • MATURING IN CHRIST — I freely talk about faith and weekly invite others to church events. I share testimony in worship, writing, or online.
